Around four thousand works of contemporary Chinese art in a converted Chippendale warehouse, possibly the largest single collection of it anywhere, and it costs nothing to walk in. Judith Neilson started buying in the late nineties after a Chinese artist living in Sydney became her tutor. The show changes twice a year and none of it will look familiar.
WHY IT’S WORTH IT
1Roughly four thousand works, one of the biggest contemporary Chinese collections anywhere.
2Free, and free because one person funds the whole thing rather than because it is small.
3The hang changes twice a year, so it is worth returning.
