The building on the sand reopened in September 2022 after two years and forty-eight million dollars, and after decades of fights over what it should be. It came back as the beach's town hall: an art gallery, a pottery studio, the Bondi Story Room, a restaurant and a café, and the 1928 terracotta roof still on top.
WHY IT’S WORTH IT
1A ninety-year-old building given back to the community rather than sold off.
2Free art gallery and pottery studio, directly on the sand.
3The 1928 terracotta roof survived the restoration. That was the fight.
