On 6 February 1938 it was thirty-five thousand people and forty degrees, and then three or four waves hit in a row and pulled two hundred bathers off a sandbank. Lifesavers rescued or resuscitated over two hundred and fifty people and five drowned. They call it Black Sunday and it is why the flags exist.
