Juan O'Gorman's twin functionalist cubes, Diego's in red, Frida's in blue, linked by a rooftop bridge, the first modern house in Latin America and a love story you can walk through.
WHY IT’S WORTH IT
1Architectural landmark: O'Gorman built it in 1932 as one of the earliest functionalist works in Latin America, exposed concrete, industrial pipes, a spiral stair, decades ahead of its time.
2Diego lived and painted here until his death in 1957, and his studio survives intact, brushes, papier-mache Judas figures and all.
3Held in custody by INBA and declared a national monument, it is patrimony, not a photo op, the real bones of Mexican modernism.
